Delete Your Vitark Account
In brief
You can delete your Vitark account at any time. You do not need the app installed to ask. When you delete your account we remove your profile, your saved research and your query history. We keep a small number of records that the law requires us to keep, and nothing else.
1. Who this applies to
This applies to anyone with a Vitark account, whether created on the website at vitark.ai or in the Vitark mobile application. 2. How to delete your account
In the app. Open Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm. This is the fastest route and it does not require you to contact us.
On the web, without the app. Send an email to ask@vitark.ai from the email address registered to the account, with the subject line "Delete my account". You do not need to give a reason. If you can no longer access that email address, tell us and we will verify your identity another way before acting.
What happens next. We acknowledge your request within 48 hours. We complete the deletion within the periods at Section 5.
You do not need to have the application installed, and you do not need an active subscription, to make this request.
3. What is deleted
On deletion we remove:
- your account profile, being your name, email address and telephone number where given;
- your authentication credentials;
- your saved research, saved cases, folders and notes;
- your query history, being the questions you asked the platform;
- your preferences and settings; and
- any profile photograph or avatar.
Your queries are deleted with your account. We treat what you searched for as among the most sensitive information we hold, because a query can disclose a legal problem a person has told no one else about.
4. What is retained, and why
We keep the following after deletion, because we are required to or because it cannot identify you:

We do not retain your query history or your saved research in any of the above.
5. How long deletion takes
- Active systems: within 30 days of your request.
- Backups: within 90 days, as backups are cycled and overwritten.
Between deletion from active systems and the expiry of the backup cycle, your data is not accessible to our staff and is not used for any purpose. It is waiting to be overwritten.
6. Deleting some things without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to remove information:
- Query history can be cleared from Settings without affecting the rest of your account.
- Saved research and folders can be deleted individually.
- Marketing email can be switched off from Settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any such email. Switching it off does not stop service messages about your account or your subscription.
7. If you have an active subscription
Deleting your account ends your access. Whether any amount is refundable is governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy and not by this page. If you want a refund, ask for it before you delete the account, because we will no longer be able to see your transaction history in the ordinary way afterwards.
8. If something goes wrong
If your deletion request is not acted on, write to the Grievance Officer:
